infant children are buried in the cemetery across the road from where his

returned to Alton, Buzzell had the church at the Corners, and he also served as
Elder at East Alton; he lived in Alton in a house later owned by Jack Kellar on

one Buzzell is buried in the vicinity of Alton. He was Rev H D Buzzell, b 16
Dec 1777 in New Durham Gore, and possibly the son of Simeon. He was ordained
in Gilmanton 25 Jan 1803, and preached for 50 years at Weare and Alton. He
died 6 Sep 1858, and his wife Charlotte d 1 Jul 1858 at ae 66y [Record of the

1825 Jan 11 - Elder H D Buzzell initiated a petition drive for a post office
in South Weare; the petition was successful and he was appointed postmaster of
the new post office on this date by Pres Monroe; he held the post until 25 Sep
1828 when Daniel Bailey [his son-in-law?] was appointed to the post [Little,

1827 Sep 2 - Elder Buzzell bapt Aaron Colby in Mount William Pond; soon
after this the Elder was accused of some improprieties with widow Sarah Kinson,
a member of his church; she made accusations, then denied them, and then
reasserted them; after investigation by a committee she was dismissed, but his
effectivness was severely impaired, so on 24 April 1828 he removed with his
family to Alton NH; he remained in Alton, and represented the town for many
years in the State Legislature [Little, Hist Weare NH, 1888, p357-9].
1828 Apr 24 - Rev H D Buzzell became involved in a scandal with widow Sarah
Kinson; although he was cleared of any wrong doing, his ministry in Weare was
over, and on this date at 2 o'clock in the afternoon he started to remove with

1823 - Hezekiah D Buzzell was a director of the South Wears Social Library
[Little, Hist Weare NH, 1888, p602].
1825 Jan 11 - Elder H D Buzzell initiated a petition drive for a post office
in South Weare; the petition was successful and he was appointed postmaster of
the new post office on this date by Pres Monroe; he held the post until 25 Sep
1828 when Daniel Bailey [his son-in-law?] was appointed to the post [Little,
Hist Weare NH, 1888, p571].
1827 Sep 2 - Elder Buzzell bapt Aaron Colby in Mount William Pond; soon
after this the Elder was accused of some improprieties with widow Sarah Kinson,
a member of his church; she made accusations, then denied them, and then
reasserted them; after investigation by a committee she was dismissed, but his
effectivness was severely impaired, so on 24 April 1828 he removed with his
family to Alton NH; he remained in Alton, and represented the town for many
years in the State Legislature [Little, Hist Weare NH, 1888, p357-9].
1828 Apr 24 - Rev H D Buzzell became involved in a scandal with widow Sarah
Kinson; although he was cleared of any wrong doing, his ministry in Weare was
over, and on this date at 2 o'clock in the afternoon he started to remove with
his family to Gilmanton [Little, Hist Weare NH, 1888].
