Charles FELKER

FAMILY RECORD:
  Charles Felker - prob came from Germany; his dau Margaret married Richard
Babb of Portsmouth in 1735, and Richard Babb bought land in Barrington that
year from his brother Samuel Babb; in 1736 Charles Felker of Barrington bought
50a in lot #68 in the 2nd range, perhaps he was living with his daughter at the
time; in 1742 Charles Felker & Michael Felker were taxed in Barrington; in 1742
Charles Felker divided his lot between his sons Michael & Charles Jr, givin
each 25a; about 1752 he bought 50a in Lot #1 next to the Two Mile Streak in
Barrington, and went there to live with son Julius.
  In his will (1753-1760), Charles Felker Sr mentions wife Margaret; son
Michael, to whom he gave the 25a he had previously given to son Charles Jr,
indicating that son Charles Jr was probably deceased; thus Michael then had the
whole 50a parcel; son Julius, given the homestead in lot #1; dau Margaret Babb;
and daus Elizabeth & Mary in Europe.  Charles Felker Jr does not appear on the
1753 tax list of Barrington which also indicates he was deceased by then.

containing 50 acres, also two cows & 1/3rd the hay, also her choice of one fire
room in the house, also 1/2 of all household goods & furniture during her
natural life; b) to son Micha Felker 5 shillings & 25 acres in Barrington where
he now dwells in Barrington which was previously given him by deed of gift,
also 25 additional acres where he now dwells, being the whole 50 acres I bought
from John Jones; c) dau Mary "whom I left living in Europe" 20 shillings; d) to
dau Elizabeth "now in Europe" 20 shillings; e) dau Margaret Babb 20 shilling &
what I have previously given her; f) well beloved son Ulos Felker, whom I
appoint sole executor, the homestead farm where I now live in Barrington which
I purchased from John Wentworth Jr, son of his Excellency Benning Wentworth,
Esq, containing 50 acres, together with all buildings, all livestock, all
household furniture and all husbandry utensils; g) executor to provide firewood

Young.  Proved 31 Dec 1760.
  Warrant issued 31 Dec 1760 to Arthur Danielson and John Garland, both of
Barrington, yeomen, to appraise the estate.  They returned their inventory 9
Apr 1761, signed by both of them, showing a total value of 3598# 5s 0p [NH
State Papers 34/401].
  1756 May 31 - "voted Charles Felker clear from sarveing constable this year,
voted Joules Felker constabel for this year in his fathers stede" [Barrington
TR 1/322].

for the Proprietors of Barrington aforesaid for the year 1771, for clearing so
much of a Road...sold to Youles Felker of Barrington, yeoman, the right of
William Parker, for 1# 8s, one common right... except the 100 acre lot which
was sold to Youles Felker for the payment of the said Tax... which was legally
struck off to the said Youles Felker, he being the highest bidder on 13 Dec

  1772 Jan 2 - Joshua Foss Jr of Barrington, yeoman, Tax Collector for the
year 1771, sold to Youles Felker of Barrington, yeoman, part of the right of

  1772 Dec 13 - from John Parshley of Barrington, yeoman, for 1# 18s, to
