John Willey - b 19 Dec 1763 and came to Northwood from Durham in 1785 with
his wife. They settled about 1/4 mile below the present Willey homestead. In
1790 he bought the farm where now stands the house in which he lived the
remainder of his life. He was a tailor. He d 11 Aug 1846 ae 82 & his wife
Mehitable d 21 Oct 1855 ae 90y. Children:

[Note: the history of Nottingham, Deerfield & Northwood by Cogswell
gives a genealogy of a John Willey of Durham (b 1763) who settled in Northwood
in 1785. He had sons John, Robert, and William B. These families probably
account for the three families shown above. Note that John, the father, could
have been a younger brother of Charles Willey. The ancestry of the older John
Willey is given in the Hist of Durham by Stackpole, his parents being Paul 4
Willey & Mary Westcombe. The family of Paul is apparently incomplete since
only the son John and a dau Mary are identified, so he could possibly be the
father of Charles Willey. However, there are numerous other male Willey lines
which are not covered in the Hist of Durham. In particular, the Jonathan
Willey who appears to be associated with Charles Willey, is not identified in
either the Hist of N, D & N or the Hist of Durham].
