  1902 Dec 17 - John M Buzzell, a well known resident of this city, committed
suicide this morning by hanging himself at his home on State Street at about 7
o'clock; the body was discovered by his wife; he had been ill for a year and
unable to work; he hung himself from a closet door; the body was taken down by
one of his sons and a neighbor, Lyman Lord; he had fallen and injured his head
while at work about a year ago, and never fully recovered; he had been a member
of the Salvation Army for many years [Newburyport Daily News 17 Dec 1902,

Parsonsfield ME; William was a painter by trade, and Elijah was a painter &
paper-hanger & farmer; Elijah was educated in the public schools of ME; he
enlisted in Co K of the 27th Maine Volunteers in 1862, and served on a hospital
staff in Washington DC for 9 mos; in 1872 he pre-empted 160 acres of prime farm
land in Red Rock twp, Minnehaha Co SD; he lost everything in a grasshopper
plague of 1874, but remained, and was the only pioneer still there in 1915; in
1852 he m Olive Jane Peary, sis of Lt Peary, the father of the man who
discovered the North Pole.  Children:
