Rev Henry B WIGGIN

FAMILY RECORD:
 Henry B Wiggin - s/o John Wiggin & Charlotte Batchelder; grad Gilmanton Academy and admitted to Waterville College 1834; grad Dartmouth College 1838; licensed tp preach South Boston Baptist Church of which he had been a member for six years; after leaving college he went to Kentucky where he was principal of Glasgow Academy and then Elkton Female Seminary; he was ordained by the request of the Baptist Church of Glasgow and served in the ministry for several years; he suffered severly during the war & left Kentucky in 1864; removed to Orange NJ and was elected major and was still in that office in 1874; he m 1842 Jane M Mohan of Kentucky. Seven children (one deceased by 1878):

  f) Lillie.

John WINGATE

FAMILY RECORD:
 John Wingate - s/o John Wingate of Madbury; b 1776; m c1800 Mary Cate of Barrington (b 1773); they settled in Farmington; he was a blacksmith; he was also appointed a JP about 1810, and tired many cases; it is said he deposited with the county court 10,000 writs and 3,000 executions; he was associated with Hon Nehemiah Eastman, a prominent lawyer in Farmington; in 1836 he bought the Clark farm on Clark's hill on the turnpike in Northwood; there he d 22 Aug 1862 ae 86; his wife d 26 Oct 1853 ae 80: Children b Farmington:
 a) John C - b 1802; m Eliza Hayes of Milton; settled in Sanbornton where he was deacon in the Cong Church; removed to Janesville WI where he d. Children: 1) Mary J; 2) John - m a dau of William Knowles of Janesville, formerly of Northwood; 3) Stephen; 4) Ann E; 5) Carrie; 6) Henry; and 7) Charles.
 b) Sarah - b 1804; m John Hayes of Milton where they lived. Children: 1) Mehitable; 2) John W; 3) Henry; and 4) Fannie.
 c) Apphia - b 1806 - lived Portsmouth; unm.
 d) Mary - b 1808; m Capt Joseph Grace of Portsmouth & lived there.
 e) Caroline - b 1810; m 10 Jul 1848 Samuel C Wallace of Concord & lived there.
 f) Charles - b 1816; m1 Alice C Horn of Gilmanton, gd/o Dea Simon Batchelder (she d 28 Sep 1869 ae 54); he m2 4 Oct 1870 Mrs Mary E Caverly.
