Michael MCCLARY

FAMILY RECORD:
 Michael McClary - s/o John McClary & Elizabeth Harvey; b 26 Dec 1752 (or 1753?) Epsom; m 1779 Sally Dearborn (d/o Dr Dearborn of North Hampton); entered army at ae 23y; appt'd ensign in Capt Henry Dearborn's company in Stark's regt; served at Bunker Hill; Capt in Col Scammel's regt in 1777; in army 4 yrs; after leaving the army he participated in the organization of the state government; was appt'd adj-general & held the office for 21 yrs; elcted state senator 1796 & held office 7 yrs; US marshall for many years; served Epsom in various capacities for over 50 yrs; treasurer of the NH Chapter of the Society of the Cincinnati 25 yrs. Children:
 a) John - b 1785; killed at ae 36 by the falling of a building.
 b) Andrew - b 1787; m 1813 Mehitable Duncan of Concord; captain in War of 1812; sailed to Calcutta & was lost at sea.
 c) Nancy Dearborn - b 1789; m Samuel Lord of Portsmouth whose son, Augustus, now owns much of the McClary estate in Epsom.
 d) Elizabeth Harvey - b 1791; m Jonathan Steele, a lawyer; resided on the homestead.
 e) Mary - b 1794; m Amos A Parker & lived in Fitzwilliam.
