1765 Nov 18 - John Snell of Durham signed a petition for the creation of Lee
parish from the NW end of Durham [NH State Papers XI/586].
1776 - John Snell refused to sign the Association Test at Lee NH [NH State
Papers XXX/81].
1787 - John Snell appears on Lee NH tax list [NH State Papers XII/392].
1789 Oct 22 - John Snell signed a petition at Lee NH recommending Capt Paul
Giles to be a civil magistrate [NH State Papers XII/395].

Robert Morrison - b 12 Jun 1752 Nottingham NH s/o James Morrison & gs/o
William Morrison; bro/o James Morrison; d 11 Nov 1823 in 72nd yr; Rev War
soldier; after his return from Saratoga he marr by Rev Hutchins to Anna Randall
(d/o Miles Randall Esq of Lee & gd/o Nathaniel Randall, the first of the name
in the area); she d 21 Mar 1844 ae 80y; they were bur in a family cem
overlooking the pond; in 1781 he purchased a farm bordering on a pond in
Northwood & moved his family there from Nottingham; he & wife lived there 42yrs
& reared five children:
a) Capt Miles - b 7 Oct 1781; d 12 Oct 1849 ae 68y; school teacher; m fall
of 1806 Martha Batchelder (d/o Dea Increase Batchelder; she d 27 Jun 1831 in
Nottingham); settled in Nottingham; selectman in Nottingham several years; they
had several children including: Nancy B - m Capt Joshua Hoyt & liv Northwood;
Mary J - m Richard Hoyt Esq & liv Northwood.
b) Mary - b 7 Feb 1785; m Capt Moses haseltine of Manchester; d Roxbury (now
Boston) MA 10 Feb 1869 ae 84y
c) Capt James - b 7 Aug 1787; d 5 Aug 1823 ae 36y; remained on the
homestead.
d) Dr John - b 3 Oct 1790; d 17 May 1878 in 88y in Alton; taught school 2
yrs & then studied medicine with Dr Graves of Deerfield & with 2 physicians in
VT; attended lectures at Dartmouth 1814; rec diploma from NH Med Soc; apptd
surgeon on privateer "Fox" during War of 1812; m 1816 Mary Randall (d/o Simon
Randall of Lee); settled as physician in Alton where they lived over 50yrs;
left a widow ae 85y & one dau Mary Ann who m Moses T Cate Esq of Wolfborough.
e) Robert - b 30 Jun 1797; school teacher who also studied medicine; taught
in Portsmouth for several yrs; later superintendant of several public
institutions in Portsmouth; later served as super of Boston Asylum and Farm
School for 15yrs; returned to Portsmouth July 1856 where he served as mayor;
finally retired to Northwood near where he was born; m 25 Sep 1825 in Northwood
by Rev Josiah Prentice to Ann Edmond Couch (b 15 Jun 1796 in Bath; d 1 Jan 1872
in her 76th yr; d/o Stephen Couch & Ann Edmond of CT, a trader & mineral
developer); both of Mrs Morrison's parents were natives of CT; her father was
the s/o Stephen Couch of Fairfield & her mother was d/o Robert Edmond of
Richfield & sis/o Hon William Edmond, a conressman from CT and later an
attorney in Vergennes VT, Children b Portsmouth NH: Ann Edmond - b 16 Apr 1834,
m 28 Jan 1853 in Boston to Thomas M Thompson eho was later an attorney in
Chicago; Ann Elizabeth - b 31 May 1839, m 15 Apr 1858 in Portsmouth to Edward N
Fuller who was owner & editor of the Newark NJ "Journal" where they lived.

FAMILY RECORD:
James Morrison - s/o William Morrison & Mary Henry; removed from Nottingham
NH to Deerfield NH in 1774; d there 13 Nov 1798 in his 74th yr; m1 Mary Kelsy
(b 26 Apr 1727 Boston MA d/o William Kelsey; she d c1755); m2 1756 Martha
White; both wives d Nottingham where his eleven children were born; one dy,
others grew to adulthood. Only four of his sons ever married, but they had
large families; they were all farmers. He & the following six children all d
Deerfield & are buried in the Veasey Cemetery which adjoins the homestead:
a) William - b 15 Aug 1750; eldest son; settled in Brighton ME where he d 23
Oct 1821 ae 71y leaving 4 sons & 2 daus.
b) Capt James - b Sep 1754; served several yrs in the Rev War where he
served for a time as Gen Lee's bodyguard; settled Parsonsfield ME where he d
1840 ae 86y.
c) Isaac - b 3 Feb 1760; settled in Pembroke; 14yrs in state legislature &
over 20yrs as selectman; d 9 Jan 1846 ae 86 leaving: Capt John - of Pembroke;
Capt James - of Prembroke; Henry - owned & occupied the homestead in Deerfield
NH & left one son, Capt Isaac Henry who represented that town in the
legislature & commanded a company of the 11th NH Reg at the battle of
Fredericksburg where he was wounded.
d) Henry - b 5 May 1761.
e) Hugh - b 23 Feb 1763.
f) John W - b 18 Sep 1764.
g) Mary - b 15 Apr 1766.
h) Jane - b 12 Mar 1768.
i) Martha - b 17 Mar 1770.

William Morrison (then of Boston) purchased home lot #39 on Fish Street from
one Robert Knox for 66#, it being the original right of James Stringer. He
built a house there, and moved his family there from Boston in the fall of
1728. He continued to live there until 1757 when he and his wife took up
residence with his son James who lived on the square. James had built a house
there in 1756. William Morrison then sold his house lot to Matthew Nealley.
William & wife died 1758 about age 74y & became the first residents of what was
later called the Judge Butler Cemetery. James Morrison sold his house on the
square to Dr Samuel Shepard in 1765 for 1,000# & removed to Deerfield. By 1775
this property was the residence of Gen Henry Dearborn and became known as the
"Dearborn Field;" it was owned c1878 by Hon James Butler [Cogswell, Hist. of
Nottingham, Deerfield & Northwood, 1878, p.750].
