  1787 Apr 8 - from Robert York of Lee, Strafford Co NH, cordwainer, for L50,
to my sons James York & Jacob York of sd Lee, coopers [was Jacob the tailor of
Raymond??????????], land in sd Lee on the south side of Lampereel River at a
place called the Hook, being part of lot #53 as shown on the plan made by
Walter Bryent Esq, being the land whereon I now dwell, begin at a pitch pine
tree the bound between the lot of Nath'l Stevens Jr, sd tree standing by the
road that leads from the house of Lt Hilton's, then run north north east 70
rods then about west north west 26 rods, then from the bound pitch pine by the
road west north west 26 rods, then a straight line from bound to bound; also
one other tract in sd Lee containing 1a, begin at a pitch pine tree at the
highway & run by sd way westerly 16 rods, then south 22 deg west 10 rods, then
easterly parallel to sd highway to Thomas York's land, then north 22 deg east
10 rods to the bound first mentioned, being the same land I bought of Capt
George Tuttle as by his deed will appear; signed 8 Apr 1787 by Rob't York
before Jn'o Smith & George Smith; no wife or dower mentioned; acknowledged 9
Apr 1787 by Rob't York before Geo Frost JP; rec'd 7 Apr 1788 "at 3/4 past 12

to [Esq] Swains land, then north about 65 deg west about 42.25 rods to the
easterly side of the range, then run northerly by sd range about 64.5 rods to
the sd road, then run easterly along sd road about 43 rods to the place begun

  Date????? - from Jacob York of Raymond, Rockingham Co NH, tailor, for $260,
to John Weeks of Deering, Hillsborough Co NH, yeoman, land in Poplin,
Rockingham Co NH, three fifths part of an undivided four acre parcel, begin
south side of road leading from Poplin Meeting House to Raymond by the
Rangeway, running westerly by sd road to James Connor's land, then southerly by
[balance of deed missing, but appears to be same land as in above two deeds;
how can York sell three fifths when he only bought two fifths??????did he also
inherit a share, or is there another deed we don't have???????probably the
latter, and Miriam Beebe is a sister of Levi Hoit??????I don't see any
suggestion that Jacob York is related to any of these people, except for the
fact that he bought the land for much less than it apparently was worth????].

in Exeter which the sd Theophilus Smith by his will gave to the sd Abigail
Dorothy & Lydia to be equally divided between them, 23.5a, lying on the south
westerly side of the road leading to hampton falls, to begin at sd road at 36
rods distance northwesterly from the corner of William Sanborns land & from
then to run by the sd road northwesterly till it comes to that 4.5a of sd farm

3/2000]. [??????????? these deeds are important because they show that the
Abigail Smith who married John Folsom of Exeter had sisters Dorothy who married
a Smith, and Lydia who married Daniel Jones; this makes it clear which
Theophilus Smith was her brother, and which was her father, assuming the
validity of the TS account given above].
