CHRONOLOGICAL ITEMS:
  1821 Oct 14 - Mr Stephen Bodge of Madbury & Miss Sally Williams of Lee publ
to marr & certified [Lee VR p19 mss #68793 NHHS].
  1867 Jun 6 - in order to obtain the provisions of the act of 14 Jul 1862,
Sarah Bodge ae 69 res/o Madbury NH appeared before the Register of Prabate for
Strafford Co NH, Ash Freeman, and deposed that she is the mother of Stephen
Bodge Jr who was a priv in Co I 10th Reg NH Vols, that he enlisted in sd Co on
or about 29 Aug 1862, and served until his death at Falmouth VA on 23 Dec 1862
of disease contracted in the service; she further states that her son left no
widow or dependants under 16 yrs of age, that her husband, Stephen Bodge is 73
yrs old, in poor health, and unable to work, and that she and her husband have
no property; she aapoints T J W Pray of Dover as her attorney to prosecute this
claim.  Sig: Sarah Bodge.
  Also appeared at the same time & place, William H H Twombly of Madbury &
John J Woodman of Dover;  they deposed that they say Sarah Bodge sign her
deposition, that she is the person whom she claims to be, and that Stephen
Bodge Jr was unmarried and left no minor children; they further say that for
six years before his enlistment Stephen Bodge Jr supported his parents, that
while he was in the service. and for six months after his death, they received
aid from the State; they further say that Stephen Bodge Sr is 73 yrs old and
unable to support his family, that he has had a broken leg, hernia, a
hydrocele, and is lame and feeble.  Sig: William H H Twombly & John J Woodman

  1724 Apr 7 - from Wm Dam of Dover planter & wife Sarah, for a 30a tract of
land conveyed to him by Jacob Allen of Dover, he conveys to sd Allen 1/2 a log
house in Dover on the W side of Back River which was formerly the home of Wm
Dan Sr late of Dover deceased.  Sig: William Dam.  Wit: Samuel Merry, Moses

  1731 Sep 14 - from John Allen of Dover carpenter, for 35#, to Jacob Allen of
same cordwainer, 80a in Rochester, 1/3rd part of lot #19 in 2nd div.  Sig: John
Allen & Mary Allen (mark).  Wit: James Nute & William Allen.  Ack: by JA 20 Sep
1720.  Rec: 14 Oct 1735 [NH Prov Deeds 21/315].
  1752 Jul 8 - will of Jacob Allin cordwainer of Dover.  Bequeathed to wife
Mary all his real estate while she remains his widow, and 1/3rd of his estate
for life if she remarries; to wife Mary all livestock during her natural life
with any remaining at her death to go to son Jacob Allin; to wife Mary all
household furnishings during her natural life, except one feather bed & bedding
which is to go to son Jacob; at the death of wife Mary all remaining household
goods are to go to dau Olive Allin; to sons Edward, Samuel, Benjamin & William
Allin, 5 shillings each; also 5 shillings to the heirs of deceased son Joseph
Allin; to son Isaac Allin at the death or remarriage of my wife Mary, all my
lands in the Spruce Pasture where he now lives, and also the orchard house,
barn & other buildings standing on sd land, also two acre in my pasture on the
S side of the highway that leads along Sam'll Nutes house, the two acres to
adjoin sd Isaac's other land; to son Spencer Allin, 30a in Barrington, being
1/2 of 60a I purchased of Mr Shadrach Hodgdon, and which I have already given
to son Spencer by deed of gift; to son Jacob Allin at death or remarriage of my
wife Mary, except her proper dowery as specified above, my dwelling house and
all lands & orchards belonging to it, and also my pasture on the S side of the
highway leading past Sam'll Nutes house, except the two acres given to son
Isaac, also 30a in Barrington being the other half of the 60a lot purchased
from Shadrach Hodgdon, also one feather bed & bedding therefor, also all my
wearing apparel, currying & shoemaking tools & utensils, also all livestock
which shall remain at the decease of my wife; to my daughters Mary Tuttle,
Martha Leighton, & Olive Allin five pounds each to be paid them by sons Isaac &
Jacob Allin in equal shares; to dau Olive Allin all household goods which
remain at the death of my wife; sons Isaac & Jacob to provide sufficient
firewood at the door of wife Mary to keep one fire during her widowhood;
appoints wife Mary executirx & son Isaac Allin executor.  Sig: Jacob Allin

Jacob Allen of Dover husbandman, land in Barrington in lot #181, 30a or 1/2 of
sixty acres which my father Jacob Allen late of Dover deceased, purchased of Mr
Shadrach Hodgdon, and which my father gave to me in his will; Anne Allen

   1763 Dec 29 - from Hannah Allen of Dover spinster, for 30#, to James Tuttle
of Dover husbandman, 1.5a land in Dover on the west side of Back River on the
way that leads from Sam'l Emersons house to the country road & lying between
the lands that the sd James Tuttle purchased of Isaac Allen & Jacob Allen, and
his other lands.  Furthermore, Benj'a Gear ye father in law of the sd Hannah
Allen & Elizabeth Gear his wife give up all right of dower in the sd premises.
