FAMILY RECORD:
Daniel Hoyt - b 13 Jan 1741 s/o Daniel Hoyt & Judith Carr; went to work for
Mr Barber in Epping NH c1757, saved his money & bought 160a in Northwood NH
near the first two Batchelder settlers; lived in Northwood during the week
while he cleared his land & built a house, returned to Epping on weekends; then
m1 Thankful Weeks of Greenland; m2 Mary Bartlett of Kingston; he eventually
owned 1100a in Northwood; settled his son Benjamin on the farm later owned by
William H & George F Manning, his son Philip on a farm east of Saddleback
Mountain later occupied by James W Hoyt his grandson, his son Daniel on a farm
west of the Mountain later occupied by his son David, his sons Nathan & Richard
stayed on the home place with Richard's part being later owned by his son
Richard & Nathan's part being later owned by David M Smith; Daniel was
selectman in 1777 & signed the Assoc Test in 1776; he had 9 children. Child by
Thankful:
a) Benjamin - b 8 Sep 1766; m 27 Nov 1787 Sarah Pilsbury; settled Northwood;
children: Enoch - d c1810; Thankful - m George P Newhall, d c1840; John H - m
c1797 Lydia Cook, liv Deerfield & had a large family.

b) Philip - b 11 Sep 1771; m 2 Sep 1790 Dorothy Godfrey; d 1819; settled
Northwood. Children: Jonathan - b 6 Feb 1791, m Dorcas Taylor, liv on his
father's farm & had: Dorothy who m Rufus Swain, John who m Judith Hoitt d/o
Richard, Philip who m1 Mary Furness & m2 Elizabeth Sherburne, James W who m1
Ellen Clark & m2 a Stearns of Deerfield, Betsey B who didn't marry, Mary Ann
who m David Kimball of Bradford MA, Sarah D who m Francis J Hanson, Martha who
m John C Hanson & had a dau, Laura who m Andrew J Emerson of Barnstead, all
these children lived in Northwood except Laura; Abigail - b 15 Dec 1793, m
Jonathan Stokes, liv & d in Ossipee leaving children; Daniel G - b 13 Mar 1797,
m Polly Hill d/o Samuel Hill, Daniel d Nov 1821 leaving one son, his wid m2
John Oaks & moved to New Salem MA; Polly - b 29 Mar 1804, m Jacob Morrill, liv
& d in Pittsfield leaving childrren; Lucinda - b 19 Oct 1807, m Benjamin Giles,
liv & d in Deerfield leaving 4 sons.
c) Thankful - b 9 Jun 1774; m Jonathan Chesley; removed to Rome ME; d there
leaving large family.
d) Hannah - b 8 Nov 1775; d 1808 unm.
e) Daniel - b 1 Mar 1778; m 2 Jun 1803 Dolly Knowlton; settled Northwood.
Children: Lydia D - b 6 Nov 1803, unm, liv with her brother on the mountain;
Irene J - b 15 Feb 1805, d Aug 1855, unm; David - b 12 Sep 1807, m Mary Foss,
liv on father's farm in Northwood, had dau Marrilla; Jonathan K - b 19 Jul
1809, m Nancy Woodman, JP & representative & selectman, had son Martin W who
grad dartmouth College 1872 & was principal of Pembroke Academy; Jeremiah
Bartlett - m 1845 Angeline Magoun, became a teacher in Northwood, Newmarket,
Manchester & Boston, had insurance business in Boston when he d in Medford in
1869 leaving a wife & dau.
f) Judith - b 4 May 1780; m Richard Carr Hoitt; he was teacher; he went to
Canada on some business in 1803 & d in Stanstead; his wid liv Northwood NH
where she d 2 Apr 1867; left one son.
g) Nathan - b 4 Sep 1782; m Charlotte Knowlton; liv on home place in
Northwood; d Nov 1821. Children: Eliza - m Nathaniel Knowlton of Northwood;
Hannah - m Daniel B Robinson of Candia; Harriet - m Joseph W James of
Deerfield; nathan B - m Emily A Bennett & liv Northwood; John S - m Louisa B
Foss; liv Chichester NH; Hosea C - m Mary N Durgin; liv Newton Upper Falls MA;
Abigail - Jonathan Chesley of Epsom.
h) Richard - b 18 Aug 1785; m 1804 Nancy Robinson; liv on home place in
Northwood; d 2 Feb 1868. Children: Joshua - 15 Aug 1805, m1 Lucy M Huntress, m2
Nancy P Morrison, liv Northwood, had 1 dau by 1st wife & 1 son by 2nd wife, he
was a wealthy & industrious farmer; Polly F - b 5 Apr 1808, m Nicholas D Hill,
they had a dau who m George W Furness & liv Newton MA, another dau m George E
Hanson & lived Portsmouth; Sarah B - b Feb 1812, m1 John Knowlton, m2 Barnard
Smith, she left son Lymon W Smith in Northwood & twin daus, one m Mr Foss of
Pittsfield & one m Rev Mr Jones of North Berwick ME; Judith - b Sep 1813, m
John Hoitt s/o Jonathan & had: Lyman W who m Elizabeth Williams & had several
children, Susan who m Charles E Dow & liv Farmington with one dau, Ellen who m
B Curtis Giles & had 3 children & liv Northwood, Abbie who m Frederic J Davis &
had one child & liv Northwood. Richard - b Aug 1817, m Mary J Morrison, liv
Northwood where he was selectman & representative & deacon of Bapt Church;
farmer & merchant; had one son, Orin A who took over father's business & later
moved to Farmington; Nancy J - b Jul 1821, m John M Taylor of Northwood, later
live Waltham MA, no issue; Lyman W - b Jan 1825, drowned at Exeter 4 Jul 1842
while visiting Ira B Hoitt then a res of Exeter; Charles H - b N0v 1826, dy.
i) Mary - b 6 May 1788; m 7 Apr 1805 Nathaniel Giles; d 10 Jan 1860; had 8
