Jacob Garland - s/o John Garland & Elizabeth Philbrick; b 20 Dec 1656; d
after 1731; farmer; m 17 Jun 1682 Rebecca Sears (bapt 7 Mar 1706/7, d/o Thomas
Sears of Newbury MA); lived first in Newbury; in 1683 removed to Hampton, took
oath of allegiance in Hampton 1678; was one of eight persons sent from Hampton
in 1676 to defend Marlborough MA; he was petitioner for Kingston twp in 1694,
and for Weare in 1717; a proprietor of Chester where he was alotted the
following lots - #30 of H L, #35 Add, #83 of H, #34 of 2P 2D, #62 of 3d D, #74
of 4th D, #127 of 5th D, #57 of 6th D; on 16 Mar 1728 he deeded to son Jacob Jr
3/4ths of a mill on Taylor's river in Hampton, and 8 Jan 1729/30 1/8th of same
mill to Joseph Sanborn; 14 Aug 1679 he sells to Abraham Green 50a land, the
Cotton lot, in Hampton; 1724/5 he deeds to Daniel Emery "one-half my rights in
the Township of Chester;" 14 Aug 1679 he sells to Abraham Green "50 acres of
land that Mr Cotton sold to my ffather, John Garland, deceased; Jacob is said
to have had eleven children born in Hampton, but there is no account of but
nine born in Hampton, and two born in Newbury" (J Dow). Children: Jacob - b 26
